Yay, mates!

I met up with Ruth, LJ and Lesley yesterday evening, had dinner, slabbered about nothing in particular, then went to Ruth and LJ's and watched CSI and Muppets. And this morning I met with Lesley again, and we went down town and had lunch with LJ. I haven't seen those two in ages. Lesley has got her PGCE and has a teaching post from September, LJ's talking about leaving Debenhams to do a PGCE as well, and Ruth's planning to do a law conversion course. That just leaves me without a career plan beyond "Ooo, this sounds interesting!" Well, I'd really like to get into publishing, but it's highly competitive and I don't have anything to make me stand out particularly (education swallowed my life! Plus I'm lazy).
Ach, we'll see. I don't have to go straight from PhD to ideal job. I'm allowed to hand in my notice a few times. And I have the best-selling author thing going on, y'know >:)
I discovered Belfast's Forbidden Planet on Friday. Talk about feeling out of place - non-goth, unaccompanied girl in a comic store *freaks* Once I realised, "No, they're not staring at me like a museum exhibit," though, I had fun browsing.
PhD work has stalled. I don't have an angle for the third chapter, and I'm treading water in redrafting my second. I'm supposed to be looking for comparable articles in other Victorian periodicals to Dickens's "A December Vision", but I have to order the periodicals up from the library basement and it's a hash down there; I ordered up something yesterday and they still haven't found it today. I'm sleepy and would much rather be reading novels for fun or going to the movies.
