Rain! Rain rain rain rain rain. And I had to walk through it up to Elms Reception, waaaaaaay up the Malone Road, because the stupid people forgot to get me to sign for my keys. I am now sitting with massive wet patches just above my knees where my rain coat dripped water on to my jeans. My legs feel cold and horrible and GRARRGHH!

Yeah, I didn't make it on to the internet at the weekend like I'd hoped. I spent Saturday running from pillar to post, trying to get shopping and laundry done - especially the laundry, cos of course I never had the right money for the machines first time round, so I had to run out and buy some utterly pointless thing just to get change, and our nearest shop is two streets down - and on Sunday, the libraries were all shut, so no computer for Rhondy.

I did get work done in that I finally read Gulliver's Travels and Moll Flanders, which are the first books I'll be teaching on in *checks* one week's time. Shit. And I still have to go register for this academic year. Must remember to do that.

I had so many dreams last night. In one of them, I was walking down a concrete space between two buildings (it was too wide to be called an alley, but it wasn't a road or yard either) and there was a jeep/MPV parked in the middle; I got this anxious feeling I was going to be mugged and then this evil-looking Latino guy jumped out from behind the far side of the car and was waving a knife in my face o.O'' A cop car came out of nowhere, only it turned out to be my family lawyer instead. Then all of a sudden, it was nighttime, and the lawyer got the (now very confused) would-be mugger to help my family shift our stuff into storage, cos we had to hide it from someone. Oh yes, and Kevin Costner played my dad. And this guy played the mugger. Only without the beard.

Then I had another dream where I was in a queue for a tour through some tourist attraction, which you walked through in a line, and this old BITCH with white hair reached her arm (which must have been stretchy cos I was some distance ahead of her), grabbed me round the stomach and hauled me back down the queue so she and her old-woman friends could take my place. Being hauled backwards by an arm wrapped round your stomach is SORE, people. By the time she'd stopped I couldn't breathe or talk from the pain, just glare in fury as she and her friends walked past me. Her friends had seen what she'd done but none of them said anything; they put their backs to me and gossiped as if there was nothing unusual about them advancing up the queue like this. Later in the dream, when the pain subsided enough to let me talk, I cornered one of them and let rip about how could they just stand back and let their friend jump the queue and seriously hurt someone into the bargain. I was so angry in that dream.

And on Saturday night, I had a dream that Dickens had left behind an unpublished story about a guy who becomes a vampire in order to find a way to make his beloved live for ever. But she dies anyway and the vampire takes over a pleasure cruise-ship, luring rich hedonists on board and sailing off with them. This story was being filmed as a movie but it was being done in modern dress. I was the story's heroine, who figures out who the mysterious captain is and saves everybody. Weirdly, the scenes which were supposed to be on the ship were not filmed on a ship, but instead were set in back gardens or on the pavement in front of a coffee shop. Maybe it was a Lars von Trier movie.
