News! Exciting news!
Nov. 8th, 2004 12:14 pmMy dad has won a holiday for two in Gran Canaria!
This is great for three reasons: (1) Mum and Dad have never been outside of the UK and have never been on a plane, so this will be their first proper foreign holiday, (2) it means I "have to" take a week off to look after the house and get Sharon and Amy to school (legit reason for slacking off yay!), and (3) Dad won it in the same prize draw that my aunt and uncle won a holiday in last year XD It's a fix! Only we haven't figured out yet who's fixing it for us...
Yeah, we got a phone call on Saturday and I answered it. The guy must have been holding the receiver too close to his mouth or something cos some of what he was saying I couldn't make out, but he said he was looking for "R Crockett". So off I go looking for Dad, or at least Mum who was bound to know where Dad was, because that's Mum's job. But Mum wanted to know which "R Crockett" they were looking for, cos there's my dad (Robert), my brother (Robert Mark) and me. So I head back to the phone, "Which R Crockett are you looking for?"
"Er, I'm not sure, it just says R Crockett here. Look, I'm from (I couldn't make out him out)."
"Sorry, what did you say?"
"I'm from (still couldn't make him out). You know, the petrol station on Bridge Street. It's about the holiday prize draw."
"...Oh, right!"
At this point, Mum came into the kitchen, "Well, what's it all about?"
"It's the Bridge Street Garage. It's about the prize draw for the holiday."
"...Oh my word, he's not won the holiday, has he?"
At this point, my little sisters overheard the whole thing and broke into fits of squealing.
Anyway, we got Dad, and he talked to the guy, and then hung up, and we all broke into laughter and hugs and exclamations of disbelief. Awww!!! Poor Mum was all scared and O.O "It's so far away! What if something happens? What if we get stuck out there? What if I get one of those deep vein thrombosis things on the plane?!" *pets panicky Mum* But she's had time to get used to the idea and now she's looking forward to it. "We have to go shopping and get light clothes! And decent suitcases!" Lol!
So that was the big excitement in our house over the weekend ^.^
